September 4th TWO of my kids started school!
Kylene was ready and excited for Second Grade...most of the time. She also didn't want summer to end, didn't want to have to get up so early (school starts at 7:50, so we leave about 7:35), and was worried her "teacher isn't nice." Thankfully, she loves her teacher, Mrs. Reed, and is adjusting to her new responsibilities. She looks so grown up to me in these pictures. What a little lady!
And Spencer "officially" began Kindergarten! At home. He was fired up and ready to go. The first week he kept asking "What's next for school, mom?" I had to explain several times that Kindergarten is only a half day, so it was okay if we weren't "doing school" the entire time Kylene is gone. He has now adjusted to our random schedule that is always changing. (We have our little daily routines, but when we actually start changes.) He is very ready for Kindergarten!

One of my favorite parts about having Spencer at home is the time Skyler and Spencer have to play together each day. Today Spencer told me he was letting Skyler "do all the lucky things" because Skyler is his best friend! (He was letting him choose what color to be when they played a board game, and let him have the gun he wanted when they played "mean guys".) I have been reminded several times in the last couple of weeks that their play is their work. And these boys definitely work hard.
It almost feels like Skyler has started school as well. He loves doing everything Spencer does right along with us. He has his own writing pages, of course, and plays while we do our reading work, but otherwise, he keeps up pretty well. He is a determined little soul.
