Girl Time

I hope my two, cute pregnant friends are okay with me posting this picture of them on my blog! Don't they look great for being about to "pop", though?! (Am I really the "tall" one?! LOL)

Memory, Amyanne, Beth

Yesterday (Wednesday) my two best friends from high school (Beth & Memory) & I met in Wilsonville at my parent's house. We usually get together for each of our birthdays, but since those all fall during the winter months, we also try to get together at least once or twice during the spring/summer. We decided we better do it before one of them goes into labor! (Likely Beth first; sorry, Mem!). Anyway, they live in Cornelius & Aloha, so Wilsonville is a good middle spot, and it is so nice to have a home to meet in. (Thanks, mom & dad, for letting us "crash" your house.) The kids had a great time playing in the backyard and "toy" room upstairs, and we had a great time catching up and laughing. Life long friends are truly priceless!

Don't you just love productive weekends? I do! And Memorial Day weekend ended up being just that. Actually, I have to admit that Kyle was really the super productive one, but since it was getting things done on the "honey do" list, I was thrilled!
On Saturday Kyle moved two sprinkler heads that were in totally the wrong location and fixed our broken fence section that got knocked over during the ice storm last winter (we lost most of the neighbor's big tree behind our house into our yard). Two very large projects! We also went to ToysRUs and got Spencer a new tricycle, and me and the kids assembled that while daddy worked in the yard.

Monday we got up and went to a nature preserve/park near our home to enjoy the beautiful weather and have a picnic. Here are some shots of us our on walk/ride.

Then we went home and Kyle again went to work. He edged and mowed our entire yard and spread barkdust. Way to go, babe! The kids & I played outside and made a double batch of chocolate chip cookies (my weakness).

It always feels so good to get so much done and have some fun, family time at the same time.

Our Little Chubster

Chubby, Solid, Round, "14 pounds of love!" Call him what you may, we are thrilled our Skyler is growing and doing so well. He "turned" two-months old last Saturday and had his two-month check-up this morning. Official weigh in: 13 pounds 14 ounces (95th percentile), 23 1/4" long (75th percentile), and 41.6 cm head circumference (90th percentile). Way to go, buddy! (Spencer was 15 pounds at two months old, so we are used to big boys in this house.)

He is still our happy, mellow baby, with smiles always at the ready. He is becoming great at cooing and has even given us a couple of good belly laughs. He already seems like he will be a very social little guy. He still eats every three to four hours, even at night, but at least he goes back to sleep after eating.

I Got to Go Camping with Daddy!

This weekend was my first Father & Sons' Campout and boy, was it ever great! Daddy took me with four of my buddies and their dad's to Fishermen's Bend near Detroit Lake.

I got to play at the park (my favorite),


play frisbee with the guys (my favorite),

roast hot dogs and eat as many chips as I could stuff in my mouth (since mommy wasn't there to stop me!), and eat marshmallows (all my favorite),

and play in the water. Man, it was cold, but since I'm so tough, it was still great getting wet!

The only bummer was my dad forgot to bring my port-a-crib so I was a little afraid of the tent (I hadn't been camping since last summer, after all!), so I wanted daddy to hold me until I fell asleep. (Don't tell mommy I got to stay up until midnight! Man, that was cool.) Then I kept waking daddy up during the night, oops! Sorry, daddy. I was pretty tired the next day but, hey, it's worth it to go camping with the men. And, trust me, I'm one tough two-year-old, so I can handle it.

Daddy and I had the BEST time together and I can't wait until next year. Neither can daddy!

Trip to Beautiful Bend

Mother's Day weekend we enjoyed a beautiful weekend in Bend with Mom & Dad McCune. We had so much fun going to a park near mom & dad's home that is right along the Deschutes River. We had a picnic lunch, played at the playground, went kayaking in mom & dad's two-man kayak, played on the little sandy beach along the river, and went for a great hike! The kids were in heaven. We then all went home hungry and tired and enjoyed a delicious mother's day dinner compliments of dad.

On Sunday we enjoyed church in mom and dad's ward then went home and relaxed and had dinner together before heading home. Thank you for a great weekend, mom & dad! Kylene & Spencer had so much fun with Tutu & Grandpa and their dog, Sadie. I was thrilled Kylene got over a little of her fear of dogs. It was great to spend Mother's Day with one of our mothers. Kyle & I are so blessed to have two such wonderful moms.

Awesome!

Every year, Salem-Keizer's Education Foundation hosts the "Awesome 3000", a race at Willamette University for all pre-K and school age kids. It has become a huge local event with over 3,000 kids participating each year. We realized that Kylene was old enough to run and she said she wanted to (yea!), so we signed her up.


The oldest kids run a 3k, then it gets shorter as you get younger. The pre-K kids run 300 meters, almost one lap around the track. The parents also have the option of running with the pre-K kids so Kylene said she wanted me to run with her. It was so fun! My first organized "run" in years, and definitely since Skyler was born:). But my favorite part was seeing my daughter run on a track and be in an organized event: it brought back so many great memories of high school track and cross country. It will be so fun for me if she continues participating in things like this. (There's nothing wrong with living vicariously through your kids, is there?!) Here are a few pictures.
