McCune Reunion

On February 13th, Kyle's Grandpa made a pit stop in Portland on his way home from Hawaii. We all decided to spend the day together in Portland with the family who lives around here. (Mom & Dad McCune, Logan & Shayla, Maile's family, us, and cousin Eric.) Then it turned into a mini Pearson family reunion when Kyle's aunts Debby and Sally and Uncle Mark decided they wanted to join in the fun. They all flew in Friday night and we met up for a fun day together on Saturday. We spent the morning at the Portland Children's Museum, Grandpa took us to lunch at a Hawaiian restaurant, then we went back to Maile & Parvin's house for hanging out, games, and dinner. It was such a fun day and so wonderful to see family we don't see very often. The kids loved all the attention and play time they had.

With Uncle Mark at the restaurant.

Clifford was the guest of honor at the Children's Museum. But all he got from Spencer was a high five.

Climbing the poles in the treehouse.Uncle Mark was the noble prince who rescued Sleeping Beauty & Cinderella. Phew!

Water fun...

Chocolate Covered Strawberries...Oh, yeah!

One of my all-time favorite treats is chocolate covered strawberries. This year, I was going to be in Utah on Valentine's Day. The Friday before I was buying groceries and saw strawberries. I thought to myself, "I would love some chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine's Day. I'm not going to be here and Kyle already bought me a plane ticket to Utah for Valentine's day...so, I'll just make them as a treat for the family tonight. I'm so nice!" I come home and while making dinner, quickly melt some chocolate chips and dip the strawberries in them. Here is my creation... (I know, don't laugh.)
Meanwhile, Kyle comes home, calls "Hello" and quickly goes upstairs. I think, "That's wierd, he didn't even come give me a kiss. Oh well, he must be busy."

I tell Kylene, "Look at these yummy strawberries!" She runs upstairs and tells daddy I am making a special treat for dinner and tells him what it is. Moments later he comes downstairs and sets a gift bag on the counter. "I just can't surprise you, can I?" I look in the bag and find this:

Oh, man! What a lame-o wife I am.

But, being the giving person that I am, I let everyone else eat the strawberries I made and I enjoyed FOUR delicious AND beautiful chocolate-covered strawberries! Thanks, honey, for your sweet gesture despite my own attempts at spoiling it! I promise not to make any next year (hint, hint)! :)

Skyler's Favorite Chair

Skyler's favorite "hang out" is on our little blue cloth-covered rocking chair. We bought it for Kylene when she was about this age and it has been a great investment. He spends literally hours crawling on it, over it, and just sitting in it. He has fallen off all sides and pushed it over backwards, but most of the time he looks up at you like, "Aren't I amazing?", laughs, and keeps on playing. He has decorated every inch of it with his drool and wiped leftovers on all sides!

It is hard to believe he is 11 months old. He is a busy, happy boy. He can crawl upstairs before you know what is happening or find the tiniest piece of something on the floor to put in his mouth. He is our patient (with all the love he gets from his siblings), happy baby! Now, if we can just get him sleeping through the night...

Tutu & Grandpa's

The last weekend in January, we made a trip to Bend. On Saturday we met Tutu & Grandpa at the KahNeeTa Hot Springs, a fabulously fun pool in the middle of nowhere. The kids loved the bathtub-warm pool and loved all the attention and swimming time with Tutu & Grandpa. Afterward, we all headed back to Bend and enjoyed Saturday evening & Sunday together. It was so fun to have time with Kyle's parents and let them spoil the kiddos. We're glad we did because they just accepted a new job and may have to leave beautiful Bend. At the very least, they will be relocating to a new home, so we're glad we had one more chance to visit them before they move!

Slacking

I have been a slacker in the blog department lately. It really has been on my "to do" list for awhile, but I just can't seem to get to it. I downloaded some pictures yesterday, so really I hope it won't be much longer. I am also trying to finish our first blog book (from 2009) and it's been so fun to review what happened, so I need to get back on the bandwagon. So much to do!
