Temple Trip

The beautiful Portland LDS Temple.

A church leader recently encouraged us (in a talk) to take our children to the temple often. So a few Sundays ago we went to the temple as a family and walked around the grounds. Spring was definitely in the air, it was fragrant and beautiful, and the kids loved walking around and seeing the flowers and water. Here are a few pictures.

If you touch the temple, it will touch you...

With daddy.

I am so grateful to live so close to a beautiful House of the Lord. But more importantly, I am thankful to have been married for eternity in the temple, so I can be with my husband and children forever. What a wonderful comfort and promise!

Vegas, baby!

Christmas day we left our kids with Maile & Parvin (thank you!) and headed to Vegas for my youngest brother's wedding. They were sealed in the Las Vegas Temple on December 26th and were appropriately smitten and happy! We had fun having a little getaway without our kids and enjoying some of the sights around Las Vegas: the strip and Hoover Dam were all we really had time for with all the wedding stuff, but it was lots of fun. The neatest part was being in the temple with all my siblings and their spouses and my parents. Kyle enjoyed our free upgrade to a convertible Mustang and of course we had to take the obligatory pictures with the top down despite it being so cold! We took it down when we wanted to see a great view of Hoover Dam, too, but otherwise we just enjoyed imagining we were driving in a convertible:). I was at least glad there was NO snow in Vegas and that it was pretty well all gone by the time we got home.
